I wish I knew all I know now about getting a Cambodia visa. I could have visited Cambodia much sooner if I had just done my research about how to get a Cambodia visa. I still laugh thinking back at my carelessness, my confidence, and my failure. But I am happy to say that, years later, I was finally able to get a Cambodia visa and was able to visit the beautiful country.
I don’t want you to go through the same situation as I went through. So today, I am going to tell you all about how to get a Cambodia visa.
Two Types of Cambodia Visas
As with any other country that requires visas, there are two types: a nonimmigrant visa and an immigrant visa. It is important to determine what you want to do in Cambodia so you can choose the visa that associates with your dealings there.
The nonimmigrant visa is used for temporary visits, usually valid 1 month upon entry into Cambodia. The immigrant visa is valid for much longer, 6 months. If you want to work in Cambodia, there is also a specific immigrant visa for that.
Where Can I Get A Cambodia Visa?
Okay, there are many places where you can apply and get a Cambodia visa. One place to get it is in a Cambodia embassy in your area. This is where I applied for my Cambodia visa. But upon researching and asking around, I found that there are now Cambodia eVisas that you can apply for online. It is important to note that only some countries are eligible to apply for Cambodia eVisas. You can even apply for a Cambodia visa at the Phnom Penh and Siem Reap airport or in the bordering countries.
What Is Required for A Cambodia Visa?
Of course, you will need a passport to get a Cambodia visa. This is where I had my first failure. I didn’t know that my passport had to be at least 6 months from the expiry date. Since my passport was 4 months away, I was instantly declined. So check your passport’s expiration date. You also need to give a 2×2 picture of your passport along with your actual passport.
Filling up everything in the application form is another requirement. You can find these forms in any Cambodia visa application quarter.
It is a good idea to double-check and make sure what else is required with the type of Cambodia visa that you are applying for.
How Long For Your Visa Application to Process?
It doesn’t take long at all to process your application. Mine was processed within 24 hours. I have heard a lot of people say that theirs was processed also within the day. But there are some cases where it can take 3 days to process your application. So not that long really.
I have immensely enjoyed my stay in Cambodia, visiting the tourist spots, trying their delicious cuisine, and learning about their exquisite culture. I am sure that you will have an awesome stay there as well!
